Not So Fairy Tale

Schwarzwald is Black Forest, stuff of fairytales and folklore. Martina notes that this mapcard also has a very real historic meaning for her. Her ancestors, Danube Swabians, walked much of this landscape when they traveled from Germany to Romania in mid-18th century. I'm sure it was not an easy walk.

Of Cattle and Cats

Love the comment Carla makes on the back about her area of Texas (up near Fort Worth)… “It’s oil and cattle country, but we’re more herbs and cats at our place.”

The best part of the caption on the back is “More than 4,000 kinds of wild flowers grow in Texas.” My state, Pennsylvania, only has about 600 kinds. I would love to travel Texas when it is in bloom!

Canadian Elegance

This is quite an elegant government building! It is the Alberta Legislature, in Edmonton. Thank you Chanelle for adopting this lovely view and adding to my government building collection.

Picture Israel

Very nice multiview of Israel with a map! Eyal is from Haifa, up in the northwest, a port city with a pretty gulf. I love the contrasts pictured in this card… the white cliffs in upper left looking like England and the desert stone in the lower right.

Camel Smile

“I distrust camels and anyone else who can go a week without a drink.” - Joe E. Lewis. Perfect card for the day after my wine enthusiasm of yesterday. Michele in West Virginia returned this card. She provided the quote, too.

Wine Bar on Every Corner

Nobi has adopted a number of cards from my project. This one comes back with an enthusiastic “I love Würzburg!” Ooooo… the description that follows just makes me want to jump on an airplane!
It’s well situated at the banks of Main River, surrounded by hills where grapes of fine white wine grow, the skyline is dominated by churches and cathedral towers and at each corner you find a wine bar.
My kind of holiday!

This card is also an example of the German “did-you-know” cards I mentioned in a previous post about Canadian cards of a similar nature.

Mass at the Mosque

The Mezquita (Mosque) of Cordoba, is another card adopted by Conchi. She has been inside twice and it always thrills. It was built as a church, and then became a mosque, and then a church again. This allows the people of Cordoba to say "I went to Mass at the Mosque."

This mosque is part of the Historic Centre of Cordoba, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
