Of Glitter and Cats

This very glittery room is The Queen's Chamber at Versailles in France. Sabina writes that the room is a central part of the Queen apartment, and is where she spent most of her time.

There is a small door on the left side of the bed that leads to a secret passage. It is through here that Marie Antoinette escaped when the palace was occupied by revolutionaries in 1789. Sabina doesn't think she could ever sleep amid so many flowers and gold. I agree!

This postage of a lynx is wonderful. The lynx population is Europe had been diminishing, but it is starting to come back. I've seen lynx on other European postage, too. They are a secretive animal, much like the panther/mountain lion/cougar in the US. I have never seen a big cat in the wild, but I am always looking. There have been more sightings of the US big cats in recent years, so it is possible I might get to see one, though I hope it isn't a surprise for either of us. Just fleeting glance is all I need.
