Tea was very excited to visit Versailles as Marie Antoinette is a favorite historical figure. Tea writes that it was magical walking in the same halls and gardens Marie Antoinette walked more than 200 years ago.
If I could travel back in time, and remain invisible, and unable to do anything that would change history even by the most insignificant alteration (resulting in the "butterfly effect"), I would want to travel to all the royal courts of the 18th and 19th centuries and see exactly how the royals lived.
You're right, that is a huge complex! I wonder how it compares to the Forbidden City?
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure you would like it. Historians have discovered that in Versailles, there were no toilets , no bathrooms. People did not wash , they smelled very bad, that's why they used a lot of perfumes ! and they were wearing wigs because most of them had no hair anymore, even women!!Hygiene ws a real disaster.Maybe not Marie-Antoinette, but most of the people around were living this way.
