Eavesdropping on History

This is such an amazing view of Versailles! I never had a good sense of just how large the site is until looking at this view and seeing the teeny tiny cars.

Tea was very excited to visit Versailles as Marie Antoinette is a favorite historical figure. Tea writes that it was magical walking in the same halls and gardens Marie Antoinette walked more than 200 years ago.

If I could travel back in time, and remain invisible, and unable to do anything that would change history even by the most insignificant alteration (resulting in the "butterfly effect"), I would want to travel to all the royal courts of the 18th and 19th centuries and see exactly how the royals lived.

  1. You're right, that is a huge complex! I wonder how it compares to the Forbidden City?

  2. I'm not sure you would like it. Historians have discovered that in Versailles, there were no toilets , no bathrooms. People did not wash , they smelled very bad, that's why they used a lot of perfumes ! and they were wearing wigs because most of them had no hair anymore, even women!!Hygiene ws a real disaster.Maybe not Marie-Antoinette, but most of the people around were living this way.
